Groupon, a global leader in local commerce has partnered with Skyscanner, the global travel search engine, to give customers across its European markets the power to search for flights. For the first time, Groupon’s customers will be able to browse and book flights thanks to the data provided by Skyscanner.
The flight search tool, developed using Skyscanner's White Label will be available to Groupon customers in the UK initially, with the option to expand into other markets in the future. Customers will be able to access the flight search tool via the Groupon Getaways section of its website, which advertises holiday offers across the world.
“Our goal is for any customer who wants to book a getaway to check Groupon first,” said Jonathan Starkings, EMEA Director of Travel for Groupon. “Giving our customers the power to search and book flights is the latest step in our transition into becoming the world’s leading local marketplace.”
The flights data is provided through Skyscanner’s White Label product, a bespoke travel search tool which is fully customised to fit with Groupon’s branding. The tool has been developed by Skyscanner for Business, the travel search engine’s B2B operation, which has developed a suite of products to power the travel internet.
Skyscanner already powers a flight search tool on Groupon’s Singapore website, and this most recent offering comes off the back of several significant White Label partnerships for the travel search engine, including with MSN and Flybe.
Skyscanner’s Commercial Director Hugh Aitken commented, “This partnership is a natural fit given both Skyscanner and Groupon’s vision of providing value and choice to customers. We were already powering flight search on Groupon’s Singapore site with our cutting-edge White Label, and we are delighted to now be able to offer our travel search technology to Groupon’s European customers.”
